The Time Capsule

Provocative. Original. Innovative. A performance where drums tame computers and multi-style improvisation is centre stage.

Endre-eNerd is drummer/composer Endre Huszar's technologically cutting-edge solo project, which is based on a unique drum system that enables him to build up complex improvised musical textures on the electronic drum pads while playing the acoustic kit. The setup consists of some custom built and customized hardware and software components, which make it possible to control all aspects of the creative process, including the recording of musical building blocks, layering, mixing and processing them.

"Although this is a solo project where I'm laying down all musical textures on my own, I thought it would be a lot more interesting to take some friends on stage with me and see how they'd interact with these textures and it was such a great experience to hear all the new dimensions and colours they added to my ideas." (Endre-eNerd)

Bartók Update 2.0

Bartók’s compositional methods are in many regards similar to those of the latest electronic music. How would Bartók work if he had access to today’s technology? Joining forces with violinist Luca Kézdy and trumpeter Ben Neill (USA), eNerd offers answers to this exciting question of music and technology not with simple electronic arrangements of Bartók.

In other words, the concert programme is not limited to reconsiderations of Bartók’s works, but also includes the embedding of the composer’s original recordings of collected folk music in new compositions. These phonograph recordings often served as the starting points of Bartók’s own works. The project focuses on his least known field recordings, which he made in North-Africa in 1913.

Endre-eNerd³ - Caravan

This was one of the most interesting projects in my life. I took swing legend Imre Kőszegi (71) -recovering from a serious shoulder injury- and fellow drummer Zoltán Farkas to the studio and give Juan Tizol's classic tune a new, "eNerdized" meaning. I'm very proud I could persuade Imre to play some electronic music for the first time and that he really enjoyed it.

Also, this was the debut of "MegaTap", a finger drum and MIDI controller I built.

Endre-eNerd - drums, MegaTap, electronics
Peta Lukács - guitar
Miklós Lengyelfi II. - electric upright bass
Guests:
Imre Kőszegi - drums
Zoltán Farkas - drums
Balázs Pecze - trumpet

The eNerd library for 2Box is a series of high quality drumkits developed for real drummers playing real gigs. The 2Box DrumIt Five -being the most natural sounding drum module ever built- is the perfect host for these stunning instruments. This video covers the process of making these drum kits and shows many examples of using them in action.
